Leviticus 13:59 NLT
”These are the instructions for dealing with mildew that contaminates woolen or linen clothing or fabric or anything made of leather. This is how the priest will determine whether these items are ceremonially clean or unclean.”
Clear-cut instructions
In the movie Devotion, a particular line stood out for me. It came during a conversation between Tom Hudner and Jesse Brown. Hudner had said, “You won’t die if you do what you are told,” implying that instructions are only valuable when followed. However, Brown’s response suggested that whether or not one follows instructions depends on whether the giver of the instruction has the beneficiary’s back.
In today’s referenced Scripture, God provided instructions for dealing with mildew that contaminates woollen or linen clothing, fabric, or anything made of leather. God reiterated that He had not omitted anything; therefore, the people should not expect any revision of the instructions.
God is loving and always has our back, and He never withholds information from whoever He has called and chosen according to His purpose. Another instructive message is that the Lord indicated that the priest would determine uncleanliness or cleanliness by following the instructions. This means the priest did not have to do anything beyond following the instructions. God has made a clear-cut instruction that does not require cross-checking with Him again.
By following His instructions, we have the assurance that we will not serve Him in vain and everything will go well for us.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thanks for not leaving me in the dark. I pray that I will follow all Your instructions diligently. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
