Leviticus 6:13 NLT
“Remember, the fire must be kept burning on the altar at all times. It must never go out.”
At all times
It’s essential to understand the significance of the word “remember” in today’s scripture. It reminds priests to follow divine injunctions and never let them slip away. The chosen priests of Israel were responsible for keeping the fire burning on the altar and ensuring enough wood to keep it going. It’s essential to note that reenacting Old Testament practices without proper understanding is pointless. The altar of burnt offerings must be fueled by fire from wood, not candles or electric bulbs. Although there’s no need for a physical altar anymore, our bodies are now the Temple of God, and we must keep the fire of the Holy Spirit burning with the fuel of holiness. Take a moment to reflect on whether you’re living a holy life and preserving the fire burning.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I always want to keep the fire of holiness burning. Please, help me always to do so, in Jesus’s name, amen.
