Leviticus 4:34* NLT
“Then the priest will dip his finger in the blood of the sin offering and put it on the horns of the altar for burnt offerings. He will pour out the rest of the blood at the base of the altar.”
They did it willingly
The procedure for the sin offering for a priest, an elder, or the whole community required the priest to dip his finger into the blood. However, did you notice that the blood of the sin offering for the priest was allowed in the Tabernacle? In contrast, the blood from the animal offered by an elder or a commoner never came into the Tabernacle. Instead, the blood was put on the horns of the altar of the burnt offering, and the remaining drained at the base of the same altar. No one hounded the priest before they dipped their fingers into the blood; they did it voluntarily. Notice that God didn’t use the word ‘must’ even though HE could have used it. Similarly, as a royal priesthood, God is counting on you and me to willingly offer our services in HIS presence and for HIS glory.
