Numbers 10:29 NLT
“One day Moses said to his brother-in-law, Hobab son of Reuel the Midianite, “We are on our way to the place the LORD promised us, for he said, ‘I will give it to you.’ Come with us and we will treat you well, for the LORD has promised wonderful blessings for Israel!””
To the place the Lord promised us
The worst thing is to set out on a journey without God’s direction. Yet many people do, assuming God will support their plans once He sees them unfold. That was not the case with the people of Israel, including Moses. Moses described their journey as divinely orchestrated, saying, “We are on our way to the place the LORD promised us.” Hence, their journey was not aimless; instead, it had a clear purpose and a divine destination.
The Israelites were also motivated by God’s assurance. They were not travelling for a vacation but to take possession of the land, because the Lord had said, “I will give it to you.” Friends, God does not lie or go back on His promises. Whatever He has promised you, believe it and walk in accordance with it, trusting that He will bring it to fruition.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, You do not send anyone on an aimless journey. Please guide me away from setting out without purpose. Let Your wisdom permeate my heart so that I can recognize and address every unnecessary ambition. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
