Numbers 10:8 NLT
“Only the priests, Aaron’s descendants, are allowed to blow the trumpets. This is a permanent law for you, to be observed from generation to generation.”
Only the priests
Everyone has a distinct role to play in God’s kingdom, each contributing according to divine purpose. However, we should not assign ourselves to any role, but allow God to lead us into what to do. Regarding the two trumpets that God commanded to signal the people of Israel for different reasons, God instructed Moses to craft them. However, Moses was not assigned to blow them; that was strictly the duty of the priests, the descendants of Aaron. This means that no matter how proficient someone becomes at blowing trumpets, if he is not a priest, it was not his duty to operate these particular ceremonial instruments. Also, the duty could not be discontinued or expanded to include more people; it was a perpetual duty reserved only for the priests, symbolizing their divine authority and responsibilities. Friends, it is crucial to operate strictly within the boundaries of divine instruction given to us. Not everyone good at performing a task should do it; rather, it is the one whom God has chosen to perform it. In a nutshell, don’t let your proficiency lead you into assuming any responsibility in God’s kingdom, but let the Holy Spirit lead you.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, please help me to accept the task You’ve given me, and may I never do it half-heartedly, but approach it with joy for Your glory and honour. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
