“On the day the Tabernacle was set up, the cloud covered it. But from evening until morning the cloud over the Tabernacle looked like a pillar of fire.”
A sign of approval
Today’s referenced scripture reveals that a remarkable event took place on the day the Tabernacle was erected. The entire community of Israel, including both native-born Israelites and foreigners, observed an unusual phenomenon: a cloud covering the entire structure. Among other things, this cloud signified a divine visitation, indicating God’s presence. It also represented divine approval of the construction and setup. Additionally, Scripture makes it clear that the task of setting up the Tabernacle was carried out exclusively by the Levite clans—namely, the Gershomites, Kohathites, and Merarites—each with specific responsibilities assigned by God. This highlights that when individuals entrusted with divine responsibilities perform their duties in strict accordance with God’s instructions and guidelines, divine presence and favour are inevitable. Friends, are you chosen to carry out a task, and are you doing it wholeheartedly? When you do, the result will be obvious for all to see, just as everyone saw the cloud covering the Tabernacle after its setup.
