Numbers 7:43 NLT
“His offering consisted of a silver platter weighing 3-1/4 pounds and a silver basin weighing 1-3/4 pounds (as measured by the weight of the sanctuary shekel). These were both filled with grain offerings of choice flour moistened with olive oil.”
Fostering unity
In the scripture, we learn that Eliasaph, the tribal leader of Gad, brought his offering on the sixth day. Just like the other tribal leaders who offered from the first to the fifth day, Eliasaph’s presentation was very much in harmony with theirs. For example, the type and quality of the metal used for the choice flour mixed with olive oil remained consistent. The fact that these leaders, from different tribes, chose not to change their approach but to stick together speaks volumes about their character. While we might not know much about Eliasaph personally, the way his offering aligned with those before him suggests he wasn’t interested in boasting or making a statement. He’s probably aware that, although offering sacrifices according to divine instructions is important, what matters most is the sincerity of the offerer, which he demonstrated. Friends, are you operating in harmony with your brethren or at loggerheads?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, please help me to operate in harmony with my brethren, fostering unity and understanding among us, and never seek to make any statement that does not glorify You through my actions, words, and attitudes. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
