Numbers 7:41 NLT
“For a peace offering he brought two bulls, five rams, five male goats, and five one-year-old male lambs. This was the offering brought by Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai.”

No immunity from God’s commandments
In the Old Testament, people offered sacrifices such as burnt offerings, grain offerings, and peace offerings to seek reconciliation and peace with God. Regardless of their social status or identity—be it wealthy or impoverished, young or old, male or female, priest or layperson—anyone desiring peace was required to present the appropriate sacrifice as prescribed by the Law. In the referenced scripture, it is noted that even tribal leaders like Shelumiel were welcome to approach God with their peace offerings, emphasizing that leadership position did not grant immunity from God’s commandments. Under the old covenant, the law itself served as a custodian, but it could not directly impart God’s peace into an individual’s life. However, in the new covenant established through Jesus Christ, the Son of God, divine peace is freely available to all who accept Him. This peace was purchased through His shed blood on the cross at Calvary, offering believers a lasting and spiritual tranquility that surpasses Old Testament sacrifices.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I humbly ask for Your peaceful presence, which surpasses all human understanding and is a gift freely given to Your children. Thank You for Your boundless grace and love. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
