Numbers 6:21 NLT
“This is the ritual law of the Nazirites, who vow to bring these offerings to the Lord. They may also bring additional offerings if they can afford it. And they must be careful to do whatever they vowed when they set themselves apart as Nazirites.”
If they can afford it
The most detrimental thing a child of God can do is to hold a misconception about God’s nature and character. While it is true that God values offerings (Exodus 34:20), it is crucial to understand that He particularly appreciates voluntary, freewill offerings made cheerfully and sincerely (Exodus 25:1-2; Exodus 35.:5). In 2 Corinthians 9:7, Paul emphasizes that God loves a cheerful giver, highlighting that giving should not be compelled or forced. The verse further clarifies that gifts should be given according to one’s ability, indicating that offerings should be made from willing hearts rather than out of guilt or fear. Importantly, in the above verse, God does not promise acknowledgment or praise to those who give out of obligation, even when it is painful or beyond their means. Friends, God’s desire is not for you to give what you lack to gain His favour or grace in Christ Jesus. In Christ Jesus is the fullness of God’s blessings.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, please help me to give You joyfully, knowing that You are the Giver of all good gifts and blessings, and that every good thing in my life comes from You. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
