Numbers 6:10 NLT
“On the eighth day they must bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons to the priest at the entrance of the Tabernacle.”

They must…
In the previous verse, the Lord stated that anyone who is accidentally defiled while engaging in a Nazarite vow must wait for seven days before shaving their head. This was a crucial step in restoring their state of purity; however, the instruction in today’s referenced scripture states additional requirements.

It is important to note that these obligations are not optional but rather essential for the fulfillment of the vow. First, the individual must remember to approach the priest on the eighth day, which is the day immediately following their cleansing from defilement. This visit is significant, as it marks the formal acknowledgment of their restored status. The person is required to bring an offering of two turtledoves or two young pigeons, underscoring the importance of making an offering to God as part of the ritual. Without either of these items, going to the priest was a waste of time.

By going to the priest, the individual demonstrates humility and, more importantly, the desire to restore the broken relationship with God. Friends, never be shy to approach Jesus, who is not just our priest but the High Priest and the only advocate before the heavenly Father; hence, what the earthly priest couldn’t do for those who accidentally broke their Nazarite vows, He did it once and for all while we were yet sinners.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I come before You with a humble heart, seeking Your guidance and wisdom. Please help me to cultivate a spirit of humility in my daily life, so that I may recognize my shortcomings and accept the finished work of salvation that You have graciously provided through Jesus Christ. When I falter and stray from my path, remind me of Your unfailing love and mercy. Let me embrace the grace that comes from my faith, trusting in Your divine plan to lead me back to You. In Jesus’s name, I pray. Amen.
