Numbers 5:9 NLT
“All the sacred offerings that the Israelites bring to a priest will belong to him.”

All the sacred offerings
A defining trait of a leader who is profoundly committed to fulfilling God’s will is their unwavering determination to prevent personal biases from influencing their decision-making processes. This principle is vividly illustrated in the scripture where Moses, acting under divine guidance, declared that “all the sacred offerings that the Israelites bring to a priest will belong to him.” This proclamation underscores Moses’ exceptional moral compass and dedication to integrity.

Moses’ conscious decision to abstain from claiming any personal benefits or advantages from these offerings, even for his descendants, highlights a remarkable sense of selflessness that is increasingly rare among contemporary leaders. He exemplifies the understanding that true leadership is not about self-enrichment but about faithfully serving others and trusting in divine provision. His deep-rooted belief that God would meet his needs in far more fulfilling ways than any temporary gain could offer is a testament to his faith and wisdom.

Beloved, it is crucial to remember the importance of integrity in leadership. We must resist the temptation to take what does not rightfully belong to us, even under the guise of spiritual justification, such as the misapplication of the scripture that states, “those who minister the holy things eat of the things of the temple.” Additionally, it’s enlightening to note that the Lord made it clear that whatever the people of Israel contribute to a priest, regardless of the quantity—whether a bountiful harvest or meager offerings—truly belongs to him. This reinforces the idea that no other priest, not even the high priest, has the right to claim a share of these offerings. Instead, the priest has the authority to manage these sacred gifts in a manner he believes is right, always with the responsibility to honor God and serve the community faithfully.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I humbly come before You in prayer, seeking Your guidance and strength. I pray that honesty and integrity will be the cornerstone of my actions and that I may consistently embody these values through the grace that I receive from You. Help me to remain vigilant against the temptation to claim anything that does not rightfully belong to me, even under the pretense of securing a better future for my descendants. May my decisions reflect fairness and a deep respect for others, ensuring that my legacy is built not on deceit but on a foundation of trust and righteousness. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
