Numbers 4:25 NLT
“They must carry the curtains of the Tabernacle, the Tabernacle itself with its coverings, the outer covering of fine goatskin leather, and the curtain for the Tabernacle entrance.”
Submission
When you wholeheartedly say yes to God, it is vital to understand that no divine assignment should ever be perceived as beyond your reach or unfit for you. Socioeconomic status, whether high or low, should not hinder anyone from embracing a task that serves to glorify His name. The instruction in the referenced scripture was explicitly directed at the Gershomite men aged 30 to 50—a pivotal age range not only numerically but also in terms of life experience and responsibility. At this stage in their lives, these men were likely to be husbands, fathers, and perhaps even grandfathers.
The Lord’s directive was both clear and inclusive; there was no need to impose artificial sub-age categories that might redefine or limit the roles assigned to these men. Each task they undertook was imbued with profound spiritual significance, as they were entrusted with carrying sacred items essential for the worship and service of God. Their willingness to carry these revered objects, irrespective of their personal socioeconomic circumstances, stands as a testament to total submission and an unwavering commitment to God’s will.
This prompts a deeply reflective question for all of us: Have you, in your own journey, submitted completely to God? Is your joy rooted in fulfilling His will, finding purpose and satisfaction in the divine path laid out for you? Such questions challenge us to examine the depth of our faith and the sincerity of our service.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I humbly ask for Your guidance and strength as I take on my responsibilities in Your vineyard. Fill me with the vigour and passion needed to serve faithfully, dedicating my efforts to honour You in all that I do. May my actions reflect Your love and grace, inspiring others to put in their best, and enabling us to cultivate a flourishing garden that brings glory to Your name. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
