Numbers 2:1 NLT
“Then the Lord gave these instructions to Moses and Aaron:”
Obedience and divine communication
Receiving additional guidance or directions from the Lord often depends on how faithfully we adhere to previous instructions. The word “then” at the beginning of the following verse indicates a direct connection between their positive response to earlier commands in the concluding verse of Numbers 1 and the subsequent revelations from God. This suggests that their earnestness and diligence in following these directives were crucial for receiving further guidance, reflecting a dynamic relationship between obedience and divine communication.
It is important to note that the collective actions of the people of Israel opened the way for additional instructions to be given to Moses and Aaron. This sets a precedent that emphasizes the importance of communal engagement in spiritual matters. The lesson we can learn from this is the significant “multiplier effect” that our attentiveness to God’s directives can have on our spiritual journey and leadership.
The pressing question now is whether we, as a community, are fully engaged and attentive to the details of God’s teachings conveyed by our leaders. Our collective actions as followers of God not only impact our spiritual growth but can also strengthen or hinder our leaders’ relationship with God Almighty.

Heavenly Father, please guide me in conducting my business so that I receive more instructions and directives from You. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
